Growing up around the holidays I would have to say this was one of two films I found myself watching constantly. Especially around Halloween. It’s a timeless classic with a bit of a dark side to it. But why do I love it so much? Perhaps it’s because of the dark images. Maybe it was the songs? Maybe it was the characters? Maybe it was the story itself and the message that went along with it? I believe it’s all of these. The characters are both enjoyable and memorable and the fact that the main character, Jack, goes through change throughout the film gets us engaged in the process of the change. Even the dark turn it takes still keeps our attention because even though we knew it was going to happen, we still can’t help but feel sorry for Jack. We wanted his dream to come true even though some of us were like Sally in that it never was going to end well. Which leads me to my next point.
Jack and Sally are precious.
And by that I mean the chemistry between them. They have a strong chemistry that really follows through all the way to the end. Now I understand why so many people are huge fans of them as a couple. Either way, I just overall love the film. And the best part, it’s a great film for both Christmas and Halloween.
