Is “the Creep” really bad?

About three years ago I made my first short film for my lower level film class. It was originally supposed to be a horror but because a lot of people were laughing at it, it ended up being a horror comedy. The film is about a guy stalking a girl in the Library and eventually ends up killing her. Unfortunately it became one of the most embarrassing productions I have ever made in my life and I regretted showing it to people. But once I did mention it to people, then they really wanted to see it. Granted I did warn them before showing it to them, but they paid little attention to my comments about it and wanted to see it for themselves before judging it. I understood and respect that. But as I showed it to them I couldn’t help but watch it again, this time paying closer attention to it.

In the end, I thought it wasn’t as bad as I had made it out to be. Yes, it is cheesy and follows the most classic and what some might call cliched of horror tropes. But at the same time I felt like it was making fun of it too. The fact that I took such a serious method of approach when it came to making it only added to the humor of what it was. On top of that it, I had a lot of fun making it, and it really seemed to show in the finished product. Everyone basically took it as what it was, a seriously funny horror film. While I will say it did have little problems, technical problems included, I will say that watching it after I have been away from it for so long has given me a new insight on it that made me appreciate it a little more than I did when I first made it.
